Comparing 7 and 6.8 Inch Covers
Screen Size Compatibility
The WALNEW case lists a compatible screen size of 6 to 7 inches. It explicitly mentions support for 7-inch Kindle Colorsoft, 6.8-inch Kindle Paperwhite, and other devices within 200mm by 150mm by 20mm. The MoKo case specifies compatibility for 7-inch and 6.8-inch Kindle Paperwhite and Colorsoft models. Both covers handle the primary screen sizes you might encounter. The WALNEW option offers a slightly broader range by including 6-inch devices, while MoKo focuses strictly on the larger formats. You get flexibility with WALNEW if your device size varies slightly.
Material and Build
WALNEW uses high-quality PVC to create a clear dry bag pouch. This material choice supports its waterproof function and allows you to see your device through the case. MoKo constructs its case from slim, lightweight PU leather. The interior features a no-scratch microfiber lining for added comfort and protection. PVC provides a rigid, sealed barrier against liquids, whereas PU leather offers a softer, more traditional book-like feel. You can choose between the industrial durability of PVC or the aesthetic appeal of leather based on your preference.
Waterproof Capability
The WALNEW case is designed as a waterproof pouch with three zip lock strips. It creates a secure seal to protect against spills, splashes, rain, sand, and dirt. This makes it suitable for beach or poolside reading. The MoKo case does not mention any waterproof features in its specifications. It relies on magnetic closure and precise cutouts rather than a sealed environment. If you read near water or in wet conditions, the WALNEW PVC construction is the only option that provides this specific protection.
Stand and Usability
MoKo includes a folding stand design to make reading more convenient. It also has an interior hand strap for comfortable one-handed use and a hand strap to prevent accidental falls. WALNEW comes with a lanyard for carrying but does not list a built-in stand. You can operate the keypad through the WALNEW transparent case, but it lacks the hands-free viewing angle provided by MoKo. If you prefer propping your device up while reading, MoKo offers a clear advantage in usability features.
Weight and Portability
The WALNEW case weighs 2.2 ounces and measures 7.87 inches in length. The MoKo case weighs 4.93 ounces and measures 6.97 inches in length. WALNEW is significantly lighter, which may matter if you carry your device in a bag for long periods. MoKo is heavier, likely due to the leather material and additional structural elements like the stand and card slot. You should consider whether the extra weight of the MoKo case is worth the added features for your daily carry habits.
Choose the right cover for your needs
Beachgoers and swimmers needing waterproof protection
The WALNEW case uses PVC material with three zip lock strips to create a secure seal. This design protects your device from spills, splashes, rain, and sand. Its universal size fits devices up to 200mm by 150mm by 20mm, making it ideal for poolside or beach reading where water exposure is a real risk.
Readers wanting a stand and card storage
The MoKo case features a folding stand design that makes reading more convenient. It includes a built-in card slot for storing cards and cash. The PU leather exterior with microfiber interior provides a slim, lightweight profile. It also includes a hand strap to prevent accidental falls, enhancing comfort during one-handed use.
Users needing auto wake and sleep functions
The MoKo case automatically wakes or puts your device to sleep when the lid is opened and closed. This feature works with Kindle Paperwhite 12th and 11th Gen, as well as the Colorsoft Signature Edition. Precise cutouts ensure easy access to all controls, while the magnetic closure keeps the cover securely shut during transport.
