BoxWave E-Reader Cover Options
BoxWave offers two distinct sleeve styles for e-readers. The Velvet Pouch targets 7.8-inch Nook devices, while the SoftSuit Neoprene Sleeve fits 5-inch Veidoo models. You choose based on screen size and material preference. Fabric provides a soft touch, whereas neoprene adds lightweight durability. Both options prioritize portability over rugged defense. The 7.8-inch pouch weighs 2.2 ounces. The 5-inch sleeve weighs 3.4 ounces. These specs highlight the trade-off between device protection and travel weight. You select the fit that matches your specific reader model. Black remains the standard color for both units. This approach keeps your device safe without adding bulk.
Where BoxWave Fits
BoxWave covers two distinct size categories. The lineup spans from 5-inch Veidoo readers to 7.8-inch Nook devices. You get fabric and neoprene sleeve options. These provide lightweight scratch protection rather than rugged impact defense. The range lacks options for mid-size screens or hard-shell cases. It also does not offer smart covers with auto sleep or wake functions. If you need gentle storage for small or large e-readers, these sleeves suit your needs. For heavier protection or different form factors, you must look elsewhere.
How to choose the right cover
-
Match screen size exactly
You must ensure the cover fits your specific device screen size. BoxWave offers distinct options for different dimensions. The Velvet Pouch is designed for 7.8-inch Nook readers. The SoftSuit Neoprene Sleeve fits 5-inch Veidoo models. Using the wrong size can leave your screen exposed or cause the device to slide out. Check your e-reader specifications before purchasing. Proper fit ensures the sleeve closes securely and protects the edges effectively. Do not assume one size fits all models within a brand.
-
Choose fabric for softness
Fabric materials provide a gentle touch against your device. The BoxWave Velvet Pouch uses fabric construction. This material is ideal if you prioritize a soft feel. It offers gentle scratch protection for your screen. Fabric sleeves are often lighter and less bulky. You should select this option if you carry your e-reader in a bag with other items. The soft texture prevents minor scuffs during transit. It is a practical choice for readers who value tactile comfort over rigid structural defense.
-
Select neoprene for flexibility
Neoprene sleeves offer a different type of protection. The BoxWave SoftSuit Neoprene Sleeve provides flexible coverage. This material conforms to the shape of your device. It is suitable for owners who need lightweight travel protection. Neoprene can absorb minor impacts better than thin fabric. You should choose this option if you want a snug fit. The material is durable and resistant to wear. It is a practical choice for daily commuters who need reliable protection without adding significant weight to their gear.
-
Consider weight for portability
Weight matters when you carry your e-reader daily. The Velvet Pouch weighs 2.2 ounces. The SoftSuit Neoprene Sleeve weighs 3.4 ounces. Both options are lightweight, but the fabric sleeve is lighter. You should check the weight if you travel frequently. A lighter cover adds less burden to your bag. It is easier to slip into a pocket or small pouch. Compare the ounce measurements to find the lightest option. This spec is crucial for readers who value minimal added bulk.
-
Verify color options
Color choices allow you to match your personal style. Both listed BoxWave models come in Jet Black. You should check the available colors before buying. A dark color may hide dirt better than a light one. It also tends to look more professional in public settings. Verify the color specification to ensure it matches your preference. Some users prefer subtle tones that do not draw attention. The color spec is a simple but important detail for daily use. Ensure the final product meets your aesthetic requirements.
