Cover Compatibility and Material Choices
Device Compatibility
The Amazon Kindle Paperwhite & Colorsoft Fabric Cover is designed to fit a broader range of devices. It works with the Kindle Paperwhite, the Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition from the 2024 release, and both models of the Kindle Colorsoft. The standard Amazon Kindle Fabric Cover is more limited. It only fits the new Kindle from the 2024 and 2022 releases. If you own a Colorsoft or a 2024 Paperwhite, the first cover is your only option. The second cover will not fit those specific models. You must check your device generation carefully before purchasing.
Material Composition
Both covers use fabric, but the recycled content differs. The Kindle Paperwhite & Colorsoft Fabric Cover uses fabric made with 100% recycled post-consumer polyester. The standard Amazon Kindle Fabric Cover uses a blend. Its fabric is made with 67% post-consumer recycled material, and the plastic components contain 51% post-consumer recycled plastics. The first cover offers a higher percentage of recycled content in its primary material. The second cover includes recycled plastics in its construction. Both options support sustainability, but the material sources are distinct.
Color Options
You have different color choices depending on which cover you select. The Kindle Paperwhite & Colorsoft Fabric Cover comes in three colors: Raspberry, Jade, and Black. The standard Amazon Kindle Fabric Cover offers four colors: Black, Denim, Rose, and Matcha. The second cover provides a wider variety of hues if you want something beyond the standard black. The first cover focuses on fewer, specific shades. Your preference for color will determine which cover suits your style better.
Interior Protection
The interior lining of the cases serves different protective roles. The standard Amazon Kindle Fabric Cover features a microfiber interior. This material is designed to protect your screen and keep it clean from dust and smudges. The Kindle Paperwhite & Colorsoft Fabric Cover does not list a specific interior lining material in its specifications. It relies on the fabric exterior and magnetic closure. If screen protection from scratches is a priority, the microfiber lining in the second cover offers a clear advantage.
Weight and Portability
Both covers are described as thin and lightweight for comfortable reading. The standard Amazon Kindle Fabric Cover has a listed weight of 4.59 ounces. The Kindle Paperwhite & Colorsoft Fabric Cover does not provide a specific weight in its specifications. Both designs fold back for one-handed reading and remain on the device for charging. The magnetic attachment ensures they stay closed securely. Without a weight for the first cover, you cannot determine which is lighter. Both aim for portability, but the data is incomplete for a direct comparison.
