Looking Beyond the Apple iPad Pro 11-inch M5? 6 Alternatives Worth a Look

How 6 Alternatives Compare

Apple iPad Pro 13-inch M5 1TB

The 13-inch M5 model trades the 11-inch portability for a larger 13-inch Ultra Retina XDR display. You gain more screen real estate for split-screen multitasking and creative work, but the device grows to 11.1 by 8.48 inches and weighs 1.28 pounds. It retains the M5 chip and 1TB storage. If you prioritize a bigger canvas over pocketable dimensions, this version suits stationary workflows. You keep Wi-Fi 7 connectivity and the same Silver finish. The thicker 0.2-inch profile matches the larger screen. This is the logical step up if the 11-inch size feels too cramped for your documents or art apps.

Apple iPad Pro 13-inch M5

This 13-inch M5 option focuses on large-screen creative workflows with the same M5 processor and 1TB storage. It shares the 11.1 by 8.48-inch footprint and 1.28-pound weight with the other 13-inch variant. You get the same Wi-Fi 6 connectivity and Silver color. The key difference is the positioning for professionals who need maximum screen space. You sacrifice the compact 11-inch form factor of the original. The display size allows for more detailed work without zooming. If your tasks involve complex layers or wide timelines, this larger panel offers the necessary room. The weight increase is the trade-off for that expanded visual area.

Apple iPad Pro 13-inch M5 Wi-Fi + Cellular

This 13-inch M5 model adds cellular connectivity to the large-screen experience. You get the M5 chip, 1TB storage, and Wi-Fi 7 alongside mobile data access. The device measures 11.1 by 8.48 inches and weighs 1.28 pounds in Space Black. You gain the ability to work away from Wi-Fi routers, which the original 11-inch Wi-Fi-only model lacks. The larger screen benefits professional applications that need more horizontal space. You accept the increased weight and size for the freedom of cellular data. This option is ideal if you need the M5 performance and 1TB capacity but also require internet access on the go.

Apple iPad Pro 12.9 (2020, Cellular, 1TB)

The 2020 iPad Pro 12.9-inch offers a large display and cellular connectivity at an older generation. You get 1TB storage and Wi-Fi 6, but it lacks the M5 chip and Wi-Fi 7 speed. The device is heavier at 1 pound and measures 11.5 by 8.9 inches. You trade the latest processor for a larger screen and mobile data capability. The Silver finish matches the newer models. This option suits users who prioritize screen size and cellular access over cutting-edge performance. You lose the Neural Accelerators and modern display tech. It is a viable choice if you need a big screen with internet access and can accept older internals.

Apple 2022 iPad Pro 12.9-inch 1TB

The 2022 iPad Pro 12.9-inch provides a 12.9-inch display and 1TB storage with Wi-Fi connectivity. It lacks cellular access and the M5 chip found in the original. The device weighs 1 pound and measures 11.1 by 8.45 inches. You gain a slightly larger screen than the 11-inch model but lose the latest processor speed. The Silver color and premium build remain. This option fits users who want a big screen and high storage without the newest chip. You sacrifice Wi-Fi 7 and M5 performance for a larger viewing area. It is a solid alternative if you prioritize screen size over the absolute latest technology.

Apple iPad Pro 13-Inch M4 Nano-Texture Glass

The 13-inch M4 model features Nano-Texture Glass and an M4 chip with 1TB storage. It includes both Wi-Fi and cellular connectivity in a Silver finish. The device measures 11.1 by 8.48 inches and weighs 1.28 pounds. You get the anti-reflective Nano-Texture glass, which the original 11-inch model offers only in higher storage tiers. The M4 chip provides strong performance, though it is one generation behind the M5. You gain cellular access and a larger screen. This option is best for professionals who need the specialized display glass and mobile data. You trade the M5 chip for the unique glass treatment and cellular capability.
