How the alternatives compare
Bigme 6-Inch Color Android E-Reader
The Bigme 6-Inch Color Android E-Reader keeps the same 6-inch form factor and 32GB storage as the original B6. It adds a color display, which the standard model lacks. This makes it better for reading color comics or graphic novels. You still get the Android 14 operating system and front light. However, color E-ink screens often have slower refresh rates than black-and-white panels. If you need vivid images for illustrations, this color version is a practical upgrade. It suits users who want app flexibility but also want to view colored content without switching devices. The physical dimensions remain identical, so your carrying habits do not change.
Bigme 6-Inch Android E-Reader
This Bigme variant shares the 6-inch black-and-white screen and 32GB storage of the original. It also runs Android 14. The main difference is the physical design. It is slightly larger at 5.88 inches long and 4.25 inches wide. It is also thicker at 0.28 inches and weighs 6.21 ounces. The original is more compact and lighter. You might prefer this version if you want a white casing instead of black. The extra bulk does not significantly impact portability. It offers the same app flexibility and lighting features. Choose this if you prefer the aesthetic of a white device or need the specific dimensions that fit your case.
Bigme 6" Monochrome Android E-Reader
The Bigme 6-Inch Monochrome Android E-Reader is nearly identical to the original in specs. It has the same 6-inch screen, 32GB storage, and Android 14 OS. The key difference is the color. This model comes in white, while the original is black. The dimensions and weight are the same. You get the same 36-level front lighting and octa-core performance. This is a straightforward aesthetic choice. Pick this alternative if you prefer a white device for its visual appeal. It offers the exact same reading experience and app support. There is no functional difference between the two. It is the right choice if you want the Bigme B6 experience in a different color.
Kobo Clara Colour 6-Inch Color E-Reader
The Kobo Clara Colour 6-Inch Color E-Reader differs significantly from the Bigme B6. It uses a proprietary operating system instead of open Android 14. This means you cannot install third-party apps like Kindle or Libby directly. It has 16GB of storage, half the capacity of the Bigme. However, it offers a color E-ink display and IPX8 waterproofing. The Bigme is not waterproof. You should choose the Kobo if you read in the bath or pool and want color visuals. It sacrifices app flexibility for durability and a dedicated reading ecosystem. It is lighter and slightly larger than the Bigme.
Kobo Clara Colour 6-Inch Color E-Reader
This Kobo Clara Colour model is the same as the previous entry. It provides a 6-inch color E-ink screen and IPX8 waterproofing. It runs a closed Android-like OS, limiting app installation compared to the Bigme B6. It has 16GB of storage. The Bigme offers 32GB and full Android 14 access. You lose the ability to sideload apps on the Kobo. You gain water resistance and color graphics. This device is ideal for readers who prioritize physical durability and color content over software customization. It is a solid choice if you do not need third-party reading apps and want a waterproof device for outdoor or wet environments.
OBOOK 6 300 PPI Android E-Reader
The OBOOK 6 300 PPI Android E-Reader matches the Bigme B6 in storage with 32GB. It also runs Android 14, offering similar app flexibility. The screen is 300 PPI, which is sharper than the Bigme's 212 PPI. This results in clearer text. The device is slightly larger at 6 inches long and 4.21 inches wide. It is thicker at 0.27 inches. The original is more compact. You get dark mode support on the OBOOK. This alternative is best for users who prioritize screen sharpness and text clarity.
