The BOOX Palma 2 Pro 6.13" Color E-Reader stands out with its 6.13-inch Kaleido 3 display and Android 15 operating system. You get 128GB of storage, a fingerprint sensor, and support for third-party apps. This device is ideal if you need color e-reading with mobile data capabilities. However, you might seek boox palma 2 pro mobile alternatives if you prefer a different screen size, a monochrome display, or a simpler interface without app flexibility.
We selected these alternatives because their specifications overlap with the original device in key areas. The list includes options with varying storage capacities, screen dimensions, and battery life. Some models prioritize lightweight portability for one-handed reading, while others offer larger screens or waterproof designs. Each choice addresses specific needs that the Palma 2 Pro may not fully satisfy, such as the desire for a more compact form factor or a dedicated e-ink experience without the complexity of a full Android system.
How Each Alternative Compares
BOOX Palma 2 Pro 6.13-Inch Color E-Reader
This listing describes the same BOOX Palma 2 Pro 6.13" Color E-Reader as the top pick. The specifications match exactly, including the 128GB storage and Black color option. You are looking at the same Android 15 device with Kaleido 3 color technology. The physical dimensions are listed as 6.26 inches in length, 3.15 inches in width, and 0.35 inches in height. If you see this variant, it offers identical functionality to the primary recommendation. It supports third-party apps and includes a hybrid SIM slot for mobile data. There is no functional difference between this entry and the first one. You can choose either based on availability or seller preference. The core experience remains unchanged.
Amazon Kindle 6-Inch 16GB E-Reader
The Amazon Kindle 6-Inch 16GB E-Reader takes a different approach by focusing on lightweight portability and monochrome reading. It weighs only 5.57 ounces, making it significantly lighter than the 175-gram BOOX Palma 2 Pro. This device lacks color display capabilities and third-party app support, which are key features of the BOOX. However, it offers a 6-week battery life, far exceeding the BOOX 3,950mAh battery endurance. You should pick this if you prioritize simple text reading and one-handed use over color graphics or app flexibility. It is ideal for readers who want a distraction-free experience without the complexity of an Android operating system. The 16GB storage is sufficient for thousands of books.
Amazon Kindle Colorsoft 7" 16GB
The Amazon Kindle Colorsoft 7" 16GB provides a larger color display compared to the BOOX Palma 2 Pro. While the BOOX uses Kaleido 3 technology, this Kindle offers a vibrant color experience with a 6.96-inch screen. It weighs 7.52 ounces, which is heavier than the BOOX but still manageable. This device lacks Android app support, limiting you to the Kindle ecosystem. You should choose this if you value visual content and long battery life over mobile data and app flexibility. It is ideal for readers who want color graphics without the complexity of a smartphone-like operating system. The 16GB storage handles a large library of color-enhanced books and magazines.
Amazon Kindle Paperwhite 6.8" 16 GB
The Amazon Kindle Paperwhite 6.8" 16GB offers a larger screen and waterproof design, unlike the BOOX Palma 2 Pro. It weighs 7.2 ounces and features a 6.85-inch display. This device does not support color or third-party apps, focusing instead on high-contrast monochrome reading. You should pick this if you prioritize screen real estate and durability over color capabilities. It is ideal for readers who want a balanced experience with long battery life and waterproof protection. The 16GB storage provides ample space for books. While it lacks the mobile data and app flexibility of the BOOX, it offers a more traditional e-reading experience with a larger, easier-to-read screen.
Amazon Kindle 6-Inch 16 GB (Refurbished)
This refurbished Amazon Kindle 6-Inch 16GB is similar to the new version but may show minor cosmetic wear. It weighs 5.57 ounces and features a 6.21-inch monochrome display. Like the new version, it lacks color and third-party app support. You should choose this if you want a portable, black-and-white text reading device at a potentially lower cost. It offers 6-week battery life and 16GB of storage. This option is ideal for readers who value portability and battery endurance over screen size or color. It provides a distraction-free experience with a bright, high-contrast display. The functionality remains consistent with the standard Kindle 6-inch model.
Amazon Kindle Paperwhite 7-Inch 16GB
The Amazon Kindle Paperwhite 7-Inch 16GB delivers a fast, large screen with excellent battery life. It weighs 7.44 ounces and features a 6.96-inch display. This device lacks color graphics and third-party app support, focusing on monochrome reading. You should pick this if you prioritize screen size and waterproof durability over color capabilities. It is ideal for readers who want a large, easy-to-read screen with long battery life. The 16GB storage handles a substantial library. While it does not offer the Android app flexibility or mobile data of the BOOX Palma 2 Pro, it provides a premium reading experience with a larger, more immersive screen.

Frequently asked questions
Is the BOOX Palma 2 Pro the only Android e-reader available?
No, it is not the only option. The Amazon Kindle Colorsoft 7-inch offers a color display but runs on a closed Android-based system without full third-party app support. Other models like the Kindle Paperwhite 7-inch provide larger screens but lack color entirely. You have choices depending on whether you prioritize open Android apps or specific screen sizes.
Which alternative offers the largest screen size?
The Amazon Kindle Paperwhite 7-inch 16GB features the largest display at 7 inches. It measures 6.96 inches in length and 5.02 inches in width. This model suits readers who want more screen real estate for text and graphics. It also includes waterproof protection, which the smaller 6-inch models do not offer.
Can I use third-party apps on the Kindle Colorsoft?
The Amazon Kindle Colorsoft 7-inch 16GB does not support third-party apps like the BOOX Palma 2 Pro. It is designed for dedicated reading with a color display. If you need Android app flexibility, the BOOX Palma 2 Pro is the better choice. The Kindle models focus on a curated reading ecosystem instead.
Which device is the lightest for one-handed reading?
The Amazon Kindle 6-Inch 16GB E-Reader is the lightest at 5.57 ounces. It measures 6.21 inches in length and 4.27 inches in width. This compact size makes it easy to hold for long periods. The BOOX Palma 2 Pro is heavier due to its larger 6.13-inch screen and additional hardware.
Do any alternatives have waterproof designs?
Yes, the Amazon Kindle Paperwhite 6.8-inch and the 7-inch models are waterproof. These devices are built to withstand water exposure, making them suitable for bath or poolside reading. The BOOX Palma 2 Pro and the standard Amazon Kindle 6-inch do not list waterproof capabilities in their specifications.
Is 128GB storage necessary for most readers?
128GB, like that in the BOOX Palma 2 Pro, allows for extensive app installations and large libraries. Most Amazon Kindle alternatives offer 16GB, which is sufficient for thousands of books but limits app storage. If you plan to install many third-party apps, the higher storage capacity is more practical for your needs.
Which color e-reader has the longest battery life?
The Amazon Kindle Colorsoft 7-inch 16GB is noted for long battery life alongside its color display. The standard Amazon Kindle 6-inch also delivers up to six weeks of battery life for text reading. These models prioritize endurance, whereas the BOOX Palma 2 Pro focuses on performance and app support, which may impact battery duration.
