CoBak vs HoYiXi Cover Specs
Screen Compatibility
The CoBak case is designed specifically for 7-inch devices, including the Kindle Paperwhite 12th Gen 2024 and the Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition. It ensures a snug fit for these larger screens. In contrast, the HoYiXi case targets smaller 6-to-6.8-inch readers. It works with older Kindle Paperwhite models, the 6-inch Kindle, and various Kobo and PocketBook devices. It explicitly excludes 7-inch readers like the Oasis. If you have a 7-inch device, the CoBak is the only viable option here. The HoYiXi is better suited for standard 6-inch e-readers.
Material Quality
Both covers use premium PU leather exteriors and soft microfiber interiors to protect your device from scratches and dust. The CoBak adds a waterproof feature to its exterior, offering extra protection against spills. The HoYiXi includes high-quality silicone clasps at the corners to secure the device, which adds a different type of durability. Both materials provide a soft-touch feel. The CoBak focuses on water resistance, while the HoYiXi relies on silicone anchors for fit. You get similar leather quality from both brands, but the waterproof claim gives CoBak a slight edge in material robustness.
Smart Features
The CoBak case features auto wake and sleep functionality. The magnetic closure automatically wakes your Kindle when opened and puts it to sleep when closed. This saves battery life and adds convenience. The HoYiXi case explicitly does not support this feature. It uses a magnetic snap closure to keep the device secure in a bag, but it will not trigger the screen to wake or sleep. If you value the convenience of automatic screen management, the CoBak is the clear winner. The HoYiXi requires you to manually wake your device.
Portability and Weight
Weight and dimensions matter for carrying your reader. The CoBak case weighs 6 ounces and measures 6.3 inches in length, 4.7 inches in height, and 0.5 inches in width. The HoYiXi case is lighter at 4.94 ounces. It is slightly longer at 7.01 inches and taller at 5.12 inches, with a thickness of 0.59 inches. The HoYiXi is nearly an ounce lighter, which may be noticeable in a pocket. However, it is also larger in footprint. If you prioritize minimal weight, the HoYiXi has the advantage.
Holding Mechanism
Both cases include a hand strap for one-handed reading, but the design differs. The CoBak features a built-in hand strap that allows you to hold the device securely without tiring your hand. It also includes a built-in card slot for storing cards or cash. The HoYiXi uses an elastic hand strap design for comfort and safety. It lacks a dedicated storage slot. The CoBak offers more utility with the card slot. The HoYiXi focuses purely on the grip. For extra storage and grip, CoBak is more feature-rich.
Which Cover Fits Your Reading Style
Owners of the 2024 7-inch Kindle Paperwhite
This case is engineered specifically for the Kindle Paperwhite 12th Gen and Colorsoft Signature Edition. The PU leather exterior and microfiber interior provide a secure, snug fit for these larger 7-inch screens. You get a folding stand and auto wake/sleep features that work perfectly with your device's magnetic sensors.
Users with multiple e-readers or older models
The HoYiXi case supports a wide range of 6 to 6.8-inch devices, including older Kindles, Kobo Clara HD, and PocketBook readers. Silicone clasps at the corners hold various sizes securely. It is a versatile choice if you own different brands or prefer a universal fit over a dedicated one.
Readers who value one-handed portability
CoBak includes a built-in hand strap to help you hold the device comfortably in one hand. The case weighs 6 ounces and measures 6.3 inches in length. The magnetic closure keeps the cover shut securely, while the foldable stand allows for hands-free viewing during long reading sessions.
Those seeking a lighter, ultra-slim profile
