How each alternative compares
Kobo Libra Colour 7-Inch E-Reader
This model shares the 7-inch color display and physical page-turn buttons found on the original. It also includes IPX8 waterproofing and audiobook support. The key difference is the absence of the included stylus. You lose the ability to annotate in color directly on the device without buying the pen separately. The device weighs 7.05 ounces and measures 6.34 inches in height. This version suits readers who want the large color screen and tactile controls but do not need digital note-taking features. It is a streamlined option for pure reading and comic viewing.
Kobo Libra Colour 7-Inch E-Reader
This variant offers the same 7-inch E Ink Kaleido 3 display and waterproof protection as the original. It retains the physical page-turn buttons and dark mode. Like the previous entry, it does not include the stylus. The physical dimensions are slightly different, with a width of 5.69 inches and a height of 6.34 inches. It weighs 7.05 ounces. This model is ideal for commuters who prioritize the spacious color screen and durable build but prefer to keep their notes elsewhere. It delivers the core Libra Colour experience without the annotation tool.
Kobo Clara BW 6-Inch Waterproof E-Reader
The Kobo Clara BW drops the color display for a monochrome screen. It reduces the screen size to 6 inches, making it more portable than the 7-inch Libra. It keeps the IPX8 waterproof rating and audiobook support. This model weighs 6.14 ounces and is slightly thinner. You gain a lower price point and better battery life from the simpler screen, but you lose color visuals and physical page-turn buttons. It is a touchscreen-only device. This alternative fits readers who want a compact, lightweight reader for text-heavy books and do not need color for comics or graphic novels.
Kobo Clara Colour 6-Inch Color E-Reader
This model brings color back to a smaller 6-inch form factor. It uses the same E Ink technology for color but in a more compact size. It retains IPX8 waterproofing and audiobook support. The device weighs 6.14 ounces. You give up the larger 7-inch canvas and the physical page-turn buttons found on the Libra. The trade-off is a device that is easier to hold with one hand. This choice suits travelers or bath readers who want color for comics but find the 7-inch size too bulky. It offers color portability without the stylus.
Kobo Clara Colour 6-Inch Color E-Reader
This black version of the Clara Colour shares the same specs as the white variant. It features a 6-inch color display and IPX8 waterproofing. It weighs 6.14 ounces and measures 6.26 inches in length. You lose the physical buttons and the larger screen of the Libra. The device relies on touch input. This model is for readers who prefer a smaller, monochrome-free experience in a compact package. It is suitable for those who read comics on the go and do not require the extended screen real estate or tactile controls of the larger Libra model.
Kobo Libra Colour 7-Inch eReader with Clear Case
This bundle includes the 7-inch color display and physical page-turn buttons of the original. It also provides IPX8 waterproofing and dark mode. The main difference is the inclusion of a clear case instead of a stylus. You lose the included stylus for note-taking. The device offers the same robust reading experience for comics and graphic novels. This option is for readers who value screen protection over digital annotation. It is a practical choice if you already own a stylus or do not need to write in your books. It prioritizes durability and screen clarity.
