6 Best Alternatives to the Kobo Libra Colour 7-Inch eReader (2026)

How alternatives compare to Kobo Libra

Kobo Libra Colour 7" E-Reader with SleepCover

This version swaps the clear protective case for a Butter Yellow SleepCover. The SleepCover includes a built-in stand, which allows for hands-free reading in various positions. You still get the same 7-inch E Ink Kaleido 3 display and IPX8 waterproof rating. The physical page-turn buttons remain, preserving the tactile experience you likely value. The main difference is the bundled accessory. If you prefer a cover that doubles as a stand for desk or bed reading, this bundle offers more utility than the clear case. The core reading experience and device durability are identical to the original model.

Kobo Libra Colour 7" SleepCover Bundle

This bundle focuses on a cohesive black aesthetic and includes a stylus storage case. It is designed for users who want a ready-to-use writing setup without purchasing accessories separately. The device specifications remain the same, featuring the 7-inch color E Ink display and waterproof construction. You retain the physical page-turn buttons for navigation. The key distinction is the included black stylus case, which adds convenience for annotating eBooks in color. If you plan to use a stylus regularly and prefer a darker device appearance, this option provides a more integrated experience. The clear case bundle offers less writing-focused utility.

Kobo Libra Colour 7-Inch E-Reader

This model is the base unit without any bundled case or cover. It retains the 7-inch E Ink Kaleido 3 screen and IPX8 waterproof rating. You still have access to physical page-turn buttons and dark mode. The primary difference is the absence of protective accessories. This option suits readers who already own a case or prefer to buy one separately. It is a practical choice for graphic novel enthusiasts who need color visuals and durability. If you do not want a bundled accessory or prefer to customize your protection, this standalone version provides the same core reading capabilities without the extra packaging or included item.

PocketBook Era Color 7-Inch E-Reader

The PocketBook Era Color offers 32GB of storage, which is double the capacity of the Kobo Libra Colour. It also includes Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and a built-in speaker for audiobooks. The device uses the same E Ink Kaleido 3 display and maintains an IPX8 waterproof rating. However, it lacks physical page-turn buttons, relying instead on touchscreen controls. This makes it a solid choice for readers who prioritize audio features and storage over tactile navigation. If you listen to audiobooks frequently and want more internal space for files, this alternative provides those advantages. You sacrifice physical buttons for enhanced audio and storage capabilities.

Kobo Libra Colour 7-Inch E-Reader

This version is the standard white 7-inch eReader without a bundled case. It features the same E Ink Kaleido 3 display and IPX8 waterproof rating as the original. Audiobook support is included, allowing you to listen to content alongside reading. The device is lightweight and portable, weighing 7.05 ounces. You still have access to dark mode for comfortable reading in low light. The main difference is the lack of a included protective case. This option is ideal if you prefer a minimalist setup or already have a case. It offers the same core color reading experience and durability without the extra accessory found in the bundle version.

Kobo Libra Colour 7" Color E-Reader

This is the base Kobo Libra Colour eReader in white, sold without any bundle. It includes the 7-inch color E Ink display and IPX8 waterproof rating. Physical page-turn buttons are present, providing tactile navigation for turning pages. The device is designed for readers who value color visuals and durability. It may feel bulky for users prioritizing lightweight portability, but it offers robust features for comic and graphic novel enthusiasts. The absence of a bundled case or cover is the key difference. If you want the full feature set of the Libra Colour without an included accessory, this standalone model provides the same reading experience and waterproof protection.
