The PocketBook Era Color 7-Inch E-Reader offers a compact color display and robust audio features. If you are searching for pocketbook era color ereader alternatives, you may want different specifications or a different brand. This device uses an E Ink Kaleido 3 screen and includes IPX8 waterproofing. It also provides Bluetooth connectivity and built-in speakers for audiobooks.
We selected these alternatives because their specs overlap with the original. Some readers prefer larger screens for better visibility. Others might want scratch-resistant glass or physical page-turn buttons. You may also seek a different storage capacity or a more budget-friendly option. Each choice here matches key features like waterproofing or color displays. This list helps you find a device that fits your specific reading needs without compromising on essential capabilities.
Comparing Era Color Alternatives
PocketBook InkPad 4 7.8-Inch E-Reader
The PocketBook InkPad 4 offers a larger 7.8-inch monochrome Carta 1200 display compared to the Era Color’s 7-inch Kaleido 3 panel. You get more screen real estate for text-heavy reading but sacrifice color output. Both devices share IPX8 waterproofing and built-in audio via Bluetooth or speakers. The InkPad 4 adds scratch-resistant glass, enhancing durability for daily use. If you prioritize screen size and ruggedness over color comics or magazines, this monochrome option provides a sharper, more focused reading experience. It retains the same storage capacity and connectivity options, making it a practical upgrade for those who find the 7-inch size too small.
PocketBook InkPad Color 3 7.8-Inch Color E-Reader
The PocketBook InkPad Color 3 steps up to a 7.8-inch color display, offering more space for books and magazines than the Era Color’s 7-inch screen. It maintains the same color E Ink technology and IPX8 waterproof rating. You gain a larger viewing area while keeping the same 32GB storage and audio capabilities. The device includes built-in speakers and Bluetooth support for audiobooks, just like the Era Color. This model is ideal if you want color reading but need more screen space. It does not include the scratch-resistant glass found on the InkPad 4, but the larger format makes it better for detailed content like comics or technical manuals requiring wider margins.
HNVHNV 7-Inch Android Tablet
The HNVHNV 7-Inch Android Tablet uses an LCD display instead of E Ink, providing a fundamentally different reading experience. It runs Android, allowing you to install various reading apps beyond the native e-reader ecosystem. This tablet offers Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity similar to the Era Color. You get expandable storage options, which may exceed the Era Color’s fixed 32GB capacity. The device lacks waterproofing and the eye-friendly characteristics of E Ink screens. It is best suited for users who want multimedia flexibility and app access rather than battery efficiency. The LCD screen consumes more power, so you will need to charge it more frequently than the month-long battery life of the Era Color.
Kobo Libra Colour 7-Inch eReader with Clear Case
The Kobo Libra Colour 7-Inch eReader matches the Era Color in screen size and E Ink Kaleido 3 technology. Both devices feature IPX8 waterproofing and color displays. The Kobo model distinguishes itself with physical page-turn buttons, which some users prefer for tactile control. It supports dark mode and includes a clear case for basic scratch protection. The Era Color offers built-in speakers and Bluetooth for audiobooks, features the Kobo Libra Colour may lack or handle differently. If you value physical navigation buttons and a compact 7-inch form factor, the Kobo is a strong alternative. It provides similar color reading capabilities but with a different hardware interface focused on button presses rather than touchscreen-only interaction.
PocketBook Verse Pro 6-Inch E-Reader
The PocketBook Verse Pro 6-Inch E-Reader reduces the screen size to 6 inches, making it more compact than the 7-inch Era Color. It uses an E Ink Carta display, which is monochrome, so you lose color capabilities. The device retains IPX8 waterproofing, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi connectivity. It includes built-in audio features similar to the Era Color. Storage is reduced to 16GB, half of the Era Color’s 32GB. This model is ideal for readers who prioritize portability and battery life over screen size and color. The smaller form factor fits easily in smaller bags or pockets. If you do not need color for comics or magazines, this 6-inch option offers a lighter, more portable reading experience with the same durable waterproofing standards.
Kobo Libra Colour 7" E-Reader with SleepCover
The Kobo Libra Colour 7-Inch with SleepCover bundle includes a built-in stand cover, offering hands-free reading without purchasing a separate case. It shares the same 7-inch E Ink Kaleido 3 display and IPX8 waterproofing as the Era Color. Physical page-turn buttons are included for navigation. The Era Color provides built-in speakers and Bluetooth for audiobooks, which this bundle may not emphasize as a core feature. The SleepCover adds convenience for desk or bed reading. If you want a complete package with a stand and color display, this bundle is practical. It sacrifices the audio focus of the Era Color for the utility of an integrated case. The 7-inch size remains consistent, offering a familiar reading experience with added physical controls.
