The PocketBook InkPad Color 3 7.8-Inch Color E-Reader offers a large color display and IPX8 water resistance. It includes 32GB of storage and a battery that lasts up to one month. These specs make it a strong choice for reading comics or magazines in wet environments. However, its 15.9-ounce weight and 1.1-inch thickness may feel bulky for some users. You might prefer a lighter device or a different screen size for better portability.
This list of 6 best alternatives to the PocketBook InkPad Color 3 E Ink E-Reader focuses on devices with overlapping specifications. We selected these options because they share key features like waterproofing, Bluetooth connectivity, or color E Ink technology. Some alternatives offer smaller screens for easier handling, while others provide different storage capacities or display technologies. You can compare the exact dimensions, battery life, and connectivity options of each device. This approach helps you find a reader that matches your specific needs for screen real estate, weight, or audio features.
Comparing alternatives to InkPad
PocketBook Era Color 7-Inch E-Reader
The PocketBook Era Color 7-Inch E-Reader uses E Ink Kaleido 3 technology for color display. It is smaller than the InkPad Color 3, measuring 7.05 inches in height versus 8.43 inches. Both devices offer 32GB of storage and waterproof design. The Era Color is lighter and more portable, making it better for travel. It retains Bluetooth and text-to-speech features. If you prefer a compact device without sacrificing color or water resistance, this is a practical upgrade. It gives up screen real estate for easier handling.
PocketBook InkPad 4 7.8-Inch E-Reader
The PocketBook InkPad 4 7.8-Inch E-Reader matches the InkPad Color 3 in screen size and water resistance. However, it features a black-and-white display instead of color. It keeps the 7.8-inch form factor and includes Bluetooth and text-to-speech support. The build is similar in weight and dimensions. You should choose this model if you read mostly text and want to avoid the higher cost or lower refresh rate often associated with color e-ink. It offers the same large screen and durability for pure text reading.
PocketBook Verse Pro 6-Inch E-Reader
The PocketBook Verse Pro 6-Inch E-Reader is significantly smaller than the InkPad Color 3. It features a 6-inch E Ink Carta display with HD resolution. Storage is reduced to 16GB compared to the 32GB in the InkPad. It remains waterproof and includes Bluetooth and text-to-speech. The device weighs only 6.56 ounces, making it highly portable. Choose this option if you prioritize a lightweight, pocketable device over a large color screen. It sacrifices screen size and storage for maximum portability and ease of one-handed use.
PocketBook Verse Pro 6" Waterproof E-Reader
The PocketBook Verse Pro 6" Waterproof E-Reader is identical in specs to the other Verse Pro model, differing only in color. It offers a 6-inch E Ink Carta display with 16GB of storage. It is waterproof, supports Bluetooth, and includes text-to-speech. The device is lightweight at 6.56 ounces. This option is suitable if you want the same compact, durable performance as the other Verse Pro but prefer a different aesthetic. It provides the same functional benefits of portability and audio support, just without the large color display of the InkPad.
Amazon Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition 32GB
The Amazon Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition 32GB offers a 7-inch color display, which is smaller than the InkPad Color 3's 7.8-inch screen. It shares the waterproof design and 32GB storage capacity. A key difference is the inclusion of wireless charging and an auto-adjusting front light. It weighs less at 7.69 ounces. This device is ideal if you want a lighter, color e-reader with convenient charging features. It gives up the larger screen size of the InkPad for a more compact form factor and enhanced lighting automation.
HNVHNV 7-Inch Android Tablet
The HNVHNV 7-Inch Android Tablet uses an LCD screen rather than E Ink. It features 32GB of storage and supports Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. The device is much heavier at 4.41 pounds and has a pink color option. It runs Android, offering a different software experience compared to the dedicated e-reader OS. This tablet is better for casual media consumption and reading where color refresh rate is not critical. It sacrifices the eye-friendly E Ink display and battery life of the InkPad for a full-color LCD and expandable storage capabilities.
