PU Leather vs Fabric Cover Comparison
Material composition
The CoBak case features a premium waterproof PU leather exterior with an anti-scratch microfiber interior. This combination offers a smooth, durable surface that resists water and daily scuffs. In contrast, the Amazon cover uses fabric made from 100% recycled post-consumer polyester. This material choice emphasizes sustainability and provides a softer, textile feel. While the CoBak exterior focuses on waterproof protection and scratch resistance, the Amazon option highlights eco-friendly materials and a lighter, breathable texture for your device.
Physical dimensions
Size and weight significantly impact comfort during long reading sessions. The CoBak case measures 6.3 inches in length, 4.7 inches in height, and 0.5 inches in width, weighing 6 ounces. These specifications indicate a bulkier profile that adds noticeable mass to your 7-inch Kindle. The Amazon cover is described as thin and lightweight, though exact dimensions are not listed. Its design prioritizes a minimal footprint, allowing for hours of comfortable one-handed reading without the added heft of the CoBak option.
Functional features
Both covers include a folding stand for hands-free viewing and magnetic auto wake/sleep functionality. The CoBak case adds a built-in hand strap for secure one-handed holding and a card slot for storing cash or cards. These features enhance utility for travelers or those who need to keep essentials nearby. The Amazon cover lacks these extras, focusing instead on a simple fold-back design that remains on the device during charging. If you need storage or extra grip, the CoBak provides more practical tools.
Device compatibility
Compatibility ensures the case fits your specific e-reader model without obstruction. The CoBak case is explicitly designed for the Kindle Paperwhite 12th Gen 2024, the Paperwhite Signature Edition 2024, and the Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition, all with 7-inch screens. The Amazon cover fits the Kindle Paperwhite, Paperwhite Signature Edition (2024 release only), Kindle Colorsoft, and Colorsoft Signature Edition. Both options cover the necessary 2024 models, ensuring a snug fit for your device regardless of which brand you choose.
Sustainability focus
Environmental impact is a key differentiator for some buyers. The Amazon cover is designed with sustainability in mind, using fabric made from 100% recycled post-consumer polyester. Additionally, its packaging is 99% wood fiber-based from responsibly managed or recycled sources. The CoBak case data does not mention recycled materials or eco-friendly packaging initiatives. If reducing waste and supporting circular economy practices is important to you, the Amazon cover offers a clear advantage through its verified recycled content and responsible sourcing.
