7 vs 8 Inch Cover Specs
Screen Size
The WALNEW case is designed for devices with a 7-inch screen, specifically noting compatibility with 6-7 inch Kindles and similar tablets. In contrast, the Flyorigin cover is listed with an 8-inch attribute, though its detailed description specifies it fits the 6.8-inch Kindle Paperwhite 11th Generation. You must verify your exact device dimensions. The WALNEW option targets a slightly larger universal range up to 7 inches, while the Flyorigin product is a precise fit for a specific 6.8-inch model despite the broader category label. This discrepancy requires careful checking before purchase.
Material
Protection styles differ significantly between these two covers. The WALNEW case is constructed from PVC, forming a clear dry bag pouch that prioritizes environmental sealing. This material choice supports its waterproof capabilities. The Flyorigin cover uses high-end PU leather and plastic, offering a classic textured look that is durable and resistant to fading. Your choice depends on whether you need flexible, sealed protection against liquids or a rigid, aesthetic shell for everyday handling. The materials serve entirely different protective purposes.
Waterproof
If you read near water or in rainy conditions, the WALNEW case is the clear choice. It features three zip lock strips to create a secure seal, protecting your device from spills, splashes, rain, and sand. The Flyorigin cover does not mention any waterproofing features. It is a standard leather case without seals or water resistance claims. You cannot submerge the Flyorigin cover. The WALNEW design ensures your e-reader remains dry, making it suitable for beach or poolside reading where moisture is a concern.
Compatibility
The WALNEW case is universal, fitting various brands including Kindle, Kobo Clara, Sony eBook Readers, and iPads Mini, provided they are within 200mm x 150mm x 20mm. You must check your model number before buying the Flyorigin option. The WALNEW case offers flexibility for multiple device types, while the Flyorigin case is a single-model solution.

Functionality varies based on your usage. The WALNEW case includes a lanyard for convenient carrying and allows operation through the transparent material. Frequently asked questions
Can I use a 7-inch cover on an 8-inch e-reader?
No, the sizes do not match. The WALNEW case is built for 6-7 inch screens, while the Flyorigin cover fits the 8-inch Paperwhite. Using the wrong size leaves the device exposed or prevents the cover from closing properly. You must match the cover dimensions to your specific device screen size for proper protection.
Which cover is better for swimming?
The WALNEW case is the correct choice for water activities. It features a waterproof design with three zip lock strips to create a secure seal. This protects your e-reader from spills, splashes, rain, and sand. The Flyorigin PU leather cover does not offer water resistance and is unsuitable for pool or beach use.
How thick is the waterproof case?
The WALNEW waterproof case has a height of 0.79 inches. It also weighs 2.2 ounces and measures 7.87 inches in length. This bulkier profile is necessary to house the waterproof seals. You should expect a thicker fit compared to standard slim covers designed for indoor reading.
Is the Flyorigin cover made of genuine leather?
No, the Flyorigin cover is made of PU leather. It is designed for the Kindle Paperwhite 11th Gen with a 6.8-inch screen. This material provides a slim and functional profile. It is not suitable if you require genuine leather or need protection for devices other than the specific Paperwhite model.
Does the WALNEW case come in black?
The provided data lists the WALNEW case in Blue. It does not mention a black option. If you require a black cover, you may need to look for other products. The Flyorigin cover is available in Black, but it is designed for a different screen size and device.
Will the Flyorigin cover fit a 7-inch Kindle?
No, the Flyorigin cover is specified for the 8-inch attribute and the Kindle Paperwhite 11th Gen. It is not designed for 7-inch devices. You should select the WALNEW case if you have a 6-7 inch e-reader. Using the Flyorigin cover on a smaller device will result in a loose and insecure fit.
