The Kobo Elipsa 2E 10.3" eReader with Stylus offers a large canvas for document markup and reading. If you are looking for kobo elipsa 2e alternatives, consider that this device prioritizes screen real estate over portability. It includes 32GB of storage and an E Ink Carta 1200 display for glare-free viewing. However, you might want a different size or feature set for your daily routine.
The alternatives on this list were chosen because their specs overlap with the original. You may prefer a smaller 6-inch screen for easier handling or waterproofing for outdoor use. Some options include built-in speakers for audiobooks, which the Kobo model does not specify. Others focus on broader format compatibility or budget-friendly designs. This guide covers 6 options that match your need for e-ink technology while offering distinct physical attributes.
How these alternatives compare
PocketBook Verse Pro 6-Inch E-Reader
The PocketBook Verse Pro shifts focus from large-document work to durability and audio. It features a 6-inch HD E Ink Carta display, significantly smaller than the Elipsa 2E’s 10.3-inch screen. This makes it much more portable, weighing only 6.56 ounces compared to 13.6 ounces. You gain waterproof protection and Bluetooth connectivity for audiobooks, which the Elipsa lacks. Storage is 16GB, half of the Elipsa’s 32GB. If you need a device for reading in wet environments or listening to audio on the go, this compact model is the better choice over the larger tablet.
PocketBook Verse 6-Inch E-Reader
The standard PocketBook Verse drops the waterproofing and audio features to prioritize basic portability. It retains the 6-inch HD E Ink Carta screen and Wi-Fi connectivity. Without Bluetooth or water resistance, it is a simpler tool for text-based reading. The weight is listed as 12 ounces, which is lighter than the Elipsa but heavier than the Pro version. It lacks the large canvas needed for PDF annotation. You should pick this if you want a reliable, lightweight reader for standard books without the extra features or bulk of the Elipsa 2E or its waterproof sibling.
PocketBook Verse Lite 6-Inch E-Reader
The PocketBook Verse Lite offers a 6-inch E Ink Carta touchscreen with front light and Wi-Fi. It is designed for format compatibility and battery life rather than screen size. At 1.1 pounds, it is heavier than the other 6-inch PocketBook models but still far lighter than the 13.6-ounce Elipsa 2E. It does not include waterproofing or audio support. This device is suitable if you need broad format support in a standard size. It gives up the large display and stylus capabilities of the Elipsa for a more traditional e-reader experience focused on text.
Veidoo 5.8-Inch Carta E-Ink Reader
The Veidoo 5.8-inch model provides a compact alternative with 32GB of storage, matching the Elipsa’s capacity. It features an HD E Ink Carta display and Wi-Fi. The screen is smaller than the 10.3-inch Elipsa, making it easier to hold. It includes speakers and physical buttons, offering audio support that the Elipsa does not have. The weight is not specified, but the dimensions suggest a lighter, more portable device. Choose this if you want audiobook support and a smaller form factor while retaining ample storage for your library, sacrificing the large screen for notes.
Veidoo 6-Inch 32GB E-Reader
The Veidoo 6-inch E-Reader includes 32GB of storage and a built-in speaker. It features Wi-Fi connectivity but lacks a specified display type beyond being an E-Reader. The screen is 6 inches, much smaller than the Elipsa’s 10.3-inch panel. This model is practical if you value audio features and storage over screen sharpness. It allows you to switch between books and audiobooks without a second device. The Elipsa 2E is better for document markup. Pick this Veidoo option if you prioritize listening to content and have plenty of storage, accepting a smaller, less sharp display.
PocketBook Verse Pro 6" Waterproof E-Reader
The PocketBook Verse Pro in Passion Red is functionally identical to the Azure version. It offers a 6-inch HD E Ink Carta display, 16GB of storage, and waterproof construction. It includes Bluetooth for audiobooks and text-to-speech capabilities. The weight is 6.56 ounces, significantly lighter than the Elipsa 2E. This device is ideal for readers who need water resistance and audio support. It gives up the large screen and stylus functionality of the Elipsa. If you require a durable, waterproof reader for wet environments, this compact model is the superior alternative to the larger tablet.
