If you are searching for veidoo 5 8 inch ebook reader alternatives, you might want to consider other devices that offer different specifications. The Veidoo 5.8-Inch Carta E-Ink Reader provides a compact, lightweight experience with physical page-turn buttons and a 32GB storage capacity. Its 5.8-inch HD Carta display is designed for eye-friendly reading, and the device includes Wi-Fi connectivity and speakerphone functionality. However, some readers may prefer a larger screen for documents, waterproof durability for outdoor use, or Android app support for broader media versatility.
We selected 6 alternatives based on overlapping specs with the original device. These options share key features like E Ink Carta displays, Wi-Fi connectivity, and comparable storage sizes. Some models offer larger screens for annotation, while others provide waterproof ratings or Android operating systems. Each choice addresses specific needs that differ from the Veidoo’s compact, button-focused design. You can compare screen sizes, storage limits, and connectivity options to find the best fit for your reading habits. This list helps you evaluate trade-offs between portability, screen real estate, and feature sets without leaving your current preferred brand or form factor.
How each alternative compares
HNVHNV 7-Inch Android Tablet
The HNVHNV 7-Inch Android Tablet swaps the e-ink display for a color LCD screen running the full Android operating system. This gives you access to a wide range of apps, but you lose the glare-free reading experience of the Veidoo. The tablet is significantly heavier at 4.41 pounds compared to the Veidoo’s 165 grams, making it less suitable for one-handed use. It shares the 32GB storage capacity but adds Bluetooth for audio output. If you prioritize app versatility and media consumption over eye comfort and portability, this device fits your needs better than the dedicated e-reader.
PocketBook Verse Pro 6-Inch E-Reader
The PocketBook Verse Pro offers waterproofing and Bluetooth audio support, features absent in the Veidoo. It uses a 6-inch E Ink Carta display with HD resolution, slightly larger than the Veidoo’s 5.8-inch screen, but provides only 16GB of internal storage. The device weighs 6.56 ounces, which is heavier than the Veidoo’s lightweight design. It supports diverse document formats and includes text-to-speech capabilities. If you read in wet environments or need robust audio features for audiobooks, this premium option is a practical choice, though you sacrifice some storage capacity and portability.
PocketBook Verse 6-Inch E-Reader
The PocketBook Verse 6-Inch E-Reader provides adjustable front lighting and versatile format support, enhancing readability in various conditions. It features a 6-inch E Ink Carta display with HD resolution, offering a slightly larger viewing area than the Veidoo. However, it lacks physical page-turn buttons, relying solely on touchscreen interaction. The device weighs 12 ounces, making it noticeably heavier than the Veidoo’s 165 grams. It does not list internal storage capacity in the provided data, so you should verify space needs. This model suits users who value adjustable lighting and format compatibility over physical controls and ultra-lightweight design.
Kobo Elipsa 2E 10.3" eReader with Stylus
The Kobo Elipsa 2E features a large 10.3-inch E Ink Carta display, ideal for document annotation and note-taking with an included stylus. It shares the 32GB storage capacity with the Veidoo but is significantly larger and heavier at 13.6 ounces. The device is designed for users who need screen real estate for productivity tasks rather than casual reading. It lacks physical page-turn buttons and is not suitable for one-handed use. If you prioritize a large screen for writing and viewing complex documents over portability and compact size, this e-reader is the better option.
PocketBook Verse Pro 6" Waterproof E-Reader
The PocketBook Verse Pro Waterproof E-Reader in Passion Red offers waterproofing and Bluetooth audio support, which the Veidoo does not provide. It uses a 6-inch E Ink Carta display with HD resolution, slightly larger than the Veidoo’s 5.8-inch screen, but includes only 16GB of storage. The device weighs 6.56 ounces, making it heavier than the Veidoo’s lightweight build. It supports text-to-speech and diverse document formats. If you read in wet environments or need audiobook functionality, this durable option is suitable, though you trade storage capacity and portability for enhanced durability and audio features.
Wisoqu 5.76" Android eReader
The Wisoqu 5.76-Inch Android eReader runs the Android operating system, allowing app installation similar to the HNVHNV tablet, but in a compact 5.76-inch form factor. It features a front light, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi connectivity. The device includes 32GB of storage and 1GB of RAM, matching the Veidoo’s storage but offering different performance characteristics. It weighs 14.8 ounces, significantly heavier than the Veidoo’s 165 grams. While it offers app flexibility, the lower resolution and increased weight make it less ideal for pure reading. Choose this if you need Android apps in a smaller package than a tablet.

Frequently asked questions
Can I read in the water with these alternatives?
Yes, the PocketBook Verse Pro models are waterproof. This feature allows you to read in the bath or by the pool without worrying about damage. The standard PocketBook Verse does not have this protection, so check the specific model if wet environments are important to you.
Do any of these devices support physical page-turn buttons?
The Veidoo 5.8-Inch Carta E-Ink Reader includes physical buttons for page turning. This is helpful for one-handed reading and reduces screen smudges. Most other listed alternatives rely on touchscreen controls, so you will need to adjust your grip if you prefer tactile navigation.
Which option offers the largest screen for note-taking?
The Kobo Elipsa 2E features a 10.3-inch display, which is the largest on this list. It includes a stylus for document annotation and note-taking. This makes it suitable for students or professionals who need to write directly on documents, unlike the smaller 5.8-inch or 6-inch readers.
Are there alternatives with Android for app access?
Yes, the HNVHNV 7-Inch Tablet and the Wisoqu 5.76" Android eReader both run Android. This gives you access to various apps beyond just e-books. The Wisoqu is more compact, while the HNVHNV offers a larger 7-inch screen, though it lacks the glare-free benefits of e-ink technology.
Can I listen to audiobooks on these e-readers?
The PocketBook Verse Pro models support Bluetooth and text-to-speech, enabling audiobook playback. You can connect wireless headphones for a hands-free experience. The Veidoo and other basic e-ink readers do not list audio features, so you will need to stick to visual reading with those devices.
Which device is the lightest for travel?
The PocketBook Verse Pro models weigh only 6.56 ounces, making them the lightest options listed. This compact weight is ideal for carrying in a bag during travel. In contrast, the HNVHNV tablet weighs 4.41 pounds, which is significantly heavier and better suited for stationary use.
Is there a pink color option available?
Yes, the Veidoo 5.8-Inch Carta and the HNVHNV 7-Inch Tablet both come in pink. The PocketBook Verse Pro is available in Passion Red, which is a similar shade. If you prefer other colors, the Kobo is black and the standard PocketBook is Mist Grey.
