6 Best Alternatives to the Mavis Laven 2.7-Inch Touchscreen E-Reader (2026)

Comparing screen size and features

Amazon Kindle Oasis 7-Inch E-Reader

The Amazon Kindle Oasis features a significantly larger display than the Mavis Laven. While the Mavis uses a 2.7-inch screen, this model offers a 7-inch panel. This provides more reading space but reduces pocket portability. It includes physical buttons for navigation, which differs from the Mavis touchscreen interface. Storage is fixed at 8GB, whereas the Mavis supports expandable memory cards up to 128GB. You lose the built-in utility tools like a calculator and alarm clock found on the Mavis. However, you gain a premium build with a graphite finish. This device suits readers who prioritize screen real estate and tactile controls over compact size and extra storage flexibility.

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite 7-Inch 16GB

The Amazon Kindle Paperwhite 16GB model offers a 7-inch screen, much larger than the Mavis Laven 2.7-inch display. This larger panel improves readability for text-heavy books. Storage is fixed at 16GB, eliminating the need for memory cards unlike the Mavis which supports up to 128GB expansion. The device weighs 7.44 ounces, making it heavier and less pocket-friendly than the Mavis. It lacks the multi-function tools such as a calendar or music playback found on the Mavis. However, it provides a glare-free screen for better outdoor reading. This option is best for users who want a larger, dedicated e-reader experience and do not need expandable storage or auxiliary device features.

XTEINK 3.7-Inch Pocket E-Reader

The XTEINK 3.7-inch Pocket E-Reader is slightly larger than the Mavis Laven but still highly portable. It weighs only 2.05 ounces, making it lighter than most competitors. The screen size is 3.7 inches, offering more content per page than the Mavis 2.7-inch display. This device focuses on DRM-free eBook reading, which may limit library access compared to ecosystem-locked devices. It lacks the music playback and Bluetooth connectivity present on the Mavis. There are no mention of utility tools like calculators or alarms. The compact form factor and low weight make it ideal for commuters who want a distraction-free reading experience. It sacrifices advanced features for maximum portability and simplicity.

Kobo Libra Colour 7" Color E-Reader

The Kobo Libra Colour offers a 7-inch color e-ink display, a major upgrade from the Mavis Laven monochrome screen. This allows for reading color comics and graphic novels. The device is waterproof, a feature not mentioned for the Mavis. It includes physical buttons, differing from the Mavis touchscreen. Storage is not specified in the provided data, but the device is designed for large libraries. It weighs 7.05 ounces, significantly heavier than the Mavis. It suits those willing to trade compact portability and multi-functionality for a premium, color-capable reading experience with physical controls.

Kobo Libra Colour 7-Inch E-Reader

The Kobo Libra Colour 7-inch E-Reader features a 7-inch color screen, vastly larger than the Mavis Laven 2.7-inch display. It supports audiobooks, similar to the Mavis Bluetooth music feature, but likely with higher fidelity. The device is waterproof and includes dark mode, enhancing reading comfort in various environments. It weighs 7.05 ounces, making it less portable than the Mavis. Storage details are not provided, but it targets users with large libraries. It lacks the Mavis’s utility tools like a calculator or calendar. The physical buttons offer precise navigation compared to touch controls. This model is ideal for readers who want color content, audio support, and waterproof durability. It sacrifices the Mavis’s compact size and multi-device functionality for a dedicated, high-quality reading experience.

Kobo Libra Colour 7-Inch Waterproof E-Reader

The Kobo Libra Colour 7-inch Waterproof E-Reader provides a 7-inch color display, a significant increase from the Mavis Laven 2.7-inch screen. It is built for durability with waterproofing, a feature absent in the Mavis. The device weighs 7.05 ounces, making it heavier and less pocket-friendly. It supports color comics and graphic novels, which the Mavis cannot display. Storage is not specified, but it accommodates extensive libraries. You give up the Mavis’s music playback, Bluetooth connectivity, and utility tools like a calculator. The focus is on visual quality and robustness. This e-reader suits readers who prioritize color content and water resistance. It is a premium choice for those who value display size and durability over compact portability and multi-functionality.
